ADAM GOLKA, PIANO; VSO/ JOSHUA WEILERSTEIN

Young American pianist Adam Golka has won international praise for his brilliant technique, clarity and emotional depth.  He received the 2008 Gilmore Young Artist Award and took first prize in the 2003 China Shanghai International Piano Competition.  Concentrating on Brahms and Beethoven previously, at this concert he moves to Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2.  Golka is joined by exciting 27 year-old conductor Joshua Weilerstein, Assistant Conductor of the New York Philharmonic, who makes his welcome return to the VSO in a program that includes Brahms’ commanding Fourth Symphony.
