The Phoenix Chamber Choir makes its VSO debut under the direction of Graeme Langager. Our first half features a lovely and meditative mosaic of international repertoire including the Canadian premieres of Gabriel Jackson’s Not No Faceless Angel and Jake Runestad’s Why the Caged Bird Sings. Maestro Bramwell Tovey and the VSO join Phoenix for Arvo Pärt’s luminously beautiful Berliner Messe, a landmark work that forms the centerpiece of tonight’s concert.
