"A sound that has just about everything one wants from a quartet…"

— NEW YORK TIMES

Alex Ross of The New Yorker magazine writes, “the St. Lawrence are remarkable not simply for the quality of their music making, exalted as it is, but for the joy they take in the act of connection.” They are indeed experts at connecting with each other, but also with audiences, and none are more aware of this than those of us at Music in the Morning.

Having just celebrated their 25th anniversary season, the St. Lawrence String Quartet (SLSQ) is internationally recognized as one of the greatest ensembles of our time. Performing in halls the world over, from Carnegie Hall to the Barbican, the SLSQ was first presented by Music in the Morning in 1989. It went on to win both the Banff International String Quartet Competition and Young Concert Artists International Auditions in 1992. Since then, the quartet has been delighting audiences with its spontaneous, passionate, and dynamic performances, fulfilling its mission: to bring every piece of music to the audience in vivid color, with pronounced communication and teamwork, and great respect to the composer.
