In his early twenties, Mozart started three operas he never completed. Two are Italian comedies, and the third is a German Romance. Each is a tantalizing hint of what might have been. Each is the voice of Mozart himself.

City Opera Vancouver offers an event premiere: three forgotten operas in one evening of wonderful theatre, delightful music, and original exploration.

This re-construction will be a Canadian first. In two acts and two hours, The Lost Operas of Mozart will delight, inform and enchant. It will be presented with English supertitles, directed and production concept by Alan Corbishley, and set in our own time at the Gates of Limbo.

We are now in rehearsal.

NEW: The Lost Operas of Mozart will be presented on 27, 28 and 29 October 2016, at 8pm. Christ Church Cathedral, Georgia x Burrard. All seats $48.00, general admission. Tickets on sale at Sikora's Classical Records, 432 West Hastings. At the door. And online at http://lostoperas.brownpapertickets.com/

This is precisely the kind of inspirational thinking that is establishing City Opera as such an essential thread in Vancouver’s (and Canada’s) cultural fabric. Three “lost˝ bites of Mozart, rethought for modern audiences and packaged into a single evening – it promises to be a revelation and an inspiration filled with unexpected delights. Bravo to City Opera: an irresistible force of vitality and enlightenment.
