STEVEN ISSERLIS, CELLO AND ROBERT LEVIN, FORTEPIANO 

For the past three decades there have been few more eloquent cellists than Steven Isserlis, ranging widely in his repertoire and producing many astonishing performances and recordings of romantic and more modern works for cello.  His collaboration with one of the early founders of the ‘authentic’ fortepiano tradition may seem to be something of an anomaly, but it is exactly conjunctions like this that can produce greatness.  They perform the complete Cello Sonatas and Variations of Beethoven.
