TAKACS QUARTET

The Takacs Quartet is indisputably one of the world’s great string quartets.  After 30 plus years of performing for the Friends of Chamber Music, they have offered an endless stream of illumination, perhaps getting even more penetrating in recent years.  Many of their reviews are available on this site.  The new repertoire at this concert is the great Mozart String Quintet in G minor, with added second violist, Erika Eckert.  They also play the Beethoven Quartet, Op. 130, a celebrated interpretation that one might want to compare with the Doric Quartet’s excellent account that we just heard in late November.
